Ganpati Visarjan, also known as Ganesh Visarjan, is one of the most important rituals in the grand festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. What is Ganpati Visarjan?
The word Visarjan means “immersion.” After installing the idol of Lord Ganesha during Ganesh Chaturthi, devotees worship him for 1.5 days, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days, or 10 days, depending on family traditions and community practices. On the final day, the idol is taken in a grand procession with music, dance, and celebrations, and immersed in a river, sea, lake, or artificial pond, symbolizing Ganesha’s return to Mount Kailash to his parents, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
