It was December 2025, and at first, the booking appeared to be a routine one. Mr. Jha, a 72-year-old resident of Noida, had booked an Annual Shradh (First Barsi) ceremony for his late wife through Poojat. The Pooja was scheduled for 7:00 AM.
Mr. Jha was a diabetic patient, and his health required him to eat on time. Since the Shradh ritual would take nearly two hours to complete, he deliberately chose the early morning slot so that he could have his first meal by around 9:30 AM. Poojat has always been committed to punctuality, especially for time-sensitive rituals, and we understood the importance of this ceremony.
However, at 7:30 AM, our customer care team received a distress call from Mr. Jha. The assigned Pandit had not arrived, and his phone was completely unreachable. Our team immediately began tracking every possible detail, repeatedly trying to contact the Pandit, but every attempt failed.
To avoid further delay, we offered to arrange another qualified Pandit immediately. However, Mr. Jha, being a Maithili Brahmin, had specifically chosen a Maithili Pandit from his hometown through Poojat. Since this was the first death anniversary of his wife, he was emotionally attached to having the same tradition and community perform the rituals. He politely declined the replacement and decided to wait.
As the hours passed, Mr. Jha's health began to deteriorate because he had been fasting since the previous night. His son, worried about his father's condition, became extremely upset and expressed his frustration to our customer care team.
Understanding both the emotional and medical urgency, our team searched our entire network and located another Maithili Jha Pandit in Gurgaon. We immediately arranged a dedicated cab to bring him to Noida without any further delay. Around 10:00 AM, the replacement Pandit arrived and performed the entire Shradh ceremony according to Vedic traditions.
After the Pooja, Mr. Jha was finally able to have his meal. Despite the unexpected delay, he appreciated the sincerity and efforts of the Poojat team. As a gesture of apology, we offered him a 50% discount on the booking. To our surprise, he refused the discount and insisted on paying the full amount, saying he was satisfied with the way Poojat handled a difficult situation.
Meanwhile, our team continued trying to reach the original Pandit. Nearly twelve hours later, we finally received a call from him from another phone. He apologized profusely and explained what had happened. Early that morning, his pregnant wife had suddenly gone into labor. In the rush to take her to the hospital, he accidentally left his mobile phone in an auto-rickshaw, where it was later stolen. With no way to contact anyone, he remained at the hospital throughout the day. That very evening, his wife safely delivered a healthy baby girl.
That day reminded us of an important truth: no matter how carefully we plan, life sometimes unfolds according to a greater plan. Our responsibility is not to control every circumstance but to respond with compassion, honesty, and unwavering commitment when the unexpected happens.
