Ganesh puja

Procedure

Ganesh Idol or Picture: A representation of Lord Ganesha is placed on a clean and decorated altar.

Offerings
- Modak: Sweet dumplings considered Lord Ganesha's favorite.
- Fruits: Especially bananas and coconut.
- Flowers: Particularly red and yellow flowers like hibiscus and marigold.
- Incense and Diya (lamp): To invoke divine presence and purity.
Aarti: Waving of lamps in front of Lord Ganesha accompanied by devotional songs (bhajans) and prayers.
Modak Distribution: Distribution of modaks or prasad (consecrated food) among family and devotees after the pooja.
Ganesh Visarjan: In some traditions, especially during Ganesh Chaturthi, the idol of Lord Ganesha is immersed in water (visarjan) symbolizing his return to Mount Kailash.
